I think it’s terrible that in a country like America there are so many homeless people – and the situation has only gotten a lot worse with the recent economic crisis.
Many Americans are only a paycheck – or two – away from joining their ranks. Medical bills and unemployment are primary catalysts, but so many other situations can also occur that cause people to lose their homes and end up on the streets. Even rich and famous people, like Jim Cramer star of the Mad Money TV show, tells the story of how, at one point in his life, he had to live out of his car.

You think of the people with beards and winter jackets in the middle of the summer. You think of soup kitchens and shelters. But I bet you don’t think of children or people you see at work.
Would you have guessed the little girl in your daughter’s kindergarden class was homeless?
Or the woman you see behind the counter at a McDonald’s or Burger King or even the guy that you work with on a daily basis was homeless? What about a mother and her children playing in the park?
If you’re not in this situation, be grateful … and, if you’re in a position to help – do something today to help a homeless person or family.
