Susan Boyle is one of the unlikeliest of media personalities. Yet, today she is known around the world – you might almost say that her name is now a household word!
Her debut album sold 3 million copies in 6 weeks and was the 2nd highest selling album of 2009.

But, she didn’t let any of that stop her.
Likewise, you shouldn’t let any of your perceived handicaps hold you back from realizing your dreams either!
I think there’s another lesson here: Don’t let the skepticism or disparagement of others hold you back. As you watch this video, pay attention to the faces of the judges and how their initial skepticism, scorn, pity, and patronizing attitudes changed once Susan opened her mouth and began to sing!
When was the last time that you’ve seen Simon Cowell with a big grin on his face? 
Given her background, it’s amazing to me that she managed to find the courage and perseverance to go for it – But go for it she did!
I know she’s had some struggles since her stardom, but I’m hoping that she has a good support team in place to help her through the rough spots – we all need people in our lives to help us when the going get tough.
