A tropical vacation is something lots of people dream of, and the planning for such a vacation often starts six months in advance.  But, sometimes, the most fun is had with those spontaneous, spur-of-the-moment trips!

Can you actually get everything ready? What are the chances of forgetting something and not being able to make the best out of the sunny days there? Here are a few hints for things that you may have overlooked.

Protect yourself against insects! A tropical vacation can turn into a nightmare if mosquitoes and other insects pinch you. Pack loose cotton clothes because there are fewer chances of being bitten through clothing. Change whenever you sweat excessively since perspiration-soaked clothes provide very little protection against insects. For a good tropical vacation you should first of all care for your health.

The clothes and footwear that you pack need to match the climate conditions as well as the altitude. You won’t be able to wear slippers if you are climbing mountains even if the geographical position is in the tropics. Sports shoes and sandals will do for a tropical environment, but don’t forget about the socks. Make sure to pack some jackets too, because the weather could be cooler at night particularly if you go boating. Wind resistant and waterproof jackets are essential on such occasions.Preview

Getting an idea about the activities you will get involved in during the trip could also help you better pack. Knowing what activities you’ll be involved in, will simplify your packing and ensure that you have the proper clothing for each activity you participate in.

Besides the packing, there are other priorities to take care of when preparing for a tropical vacation. Learn about the documents you need to carry, and inquire about the airline regulations in order to know what things you are allowed to take with you. Check online forums to get tips for planning all aspects of your vacation. Don’t mistake careful planning for a lack of adventure or for boredom.

And even if you have purchased some all-inclusive package, you still ought to be ready with some extra cash should it not be the case. Talk to the travel agency and find out what exactly is covered by the all inclusive package of a tropical vacation.  (You know the old joke about traveling to Hawaii … lay out on the bed all the clothes and the cash you plan to take — and then remove half the clothes, and double the money!)

People are usually thrilled about Hawaii, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and South Asia is also a favorite tourist destination, but a nice tropical vacation doesn’t have to be very far away from home. The further you go, the more expensive it will be.

Checklists will probably help you a lot, which is why we recommend that you use them extensively.

Primo Vacations Club launches next week and offers great travel deals – especially if you’re flexible with respect to scheduling your trip.  Typical discounts range about 30%, but for short-notice “Hot Deals” you can save up to 80% – and there are no “blackout” dates!

Lots of people travel over the holidays, but many prefer to wait to travel until after the New Year.  Start making your plans now, so you’ll be ready when the “travel bug” strikes you!
